Kraft Paper

In German, "Kraft" means strength. Kraft paper is a type of paper or cardboard produced from chemical pulp. It is highly resistant and is commonly used for packaging, especially for fruits.

The process of making this paper is also known by the same name, "Kraft process." The pulp obtained through the Kraft process gives the paper greater resistance. Kraft paper pulp is darker than other paper pulps, but it can be bleached to produce a white paper with greater resistance and durability against yellowing. Most kraft paper on the market is brown or beige.

This paper has a lower lignin content compared to other papers. Less lignin results in greater mechanical strength because lignin disrupts the hydrogen bonds between cellulose fibers. Mechanical methods, in comparison to the Kraft process, leave more lignin in the fibers, whereas the Kraft process removes more lignin.

A wider range of tree types can be used to produce this paper compared to other papers, including various types of pine, bamboo, or hemp.

Kraft paper can be recycled 100% and is available on the market with a grammage of over 40 gr.
